The struggle is real.

There is no better feeling than the pure fulfillment and joy of seeing your favorite band or artist at a concert. The anticipation of counting down the weeks, days, hours until you get to see your idols on stage. The songs you blare in your car singing along to finally becomes a reality. Time seems to stand still during a concert. Every single worry in your life is left at the arena doors and for a couple of hours, the only thing on your mind is the music and how you never want this night to end. Everyone is singing, screaming, or dancing along with you. For a moment your life seems perfect. But, when the music finally comes to an end and the lights come on the sadness starts to sink in.

Most people don't know what post-concert depression is, but let me assure you, it is very real. Post-concert depression is the state of sadness and ache you feel once the concert is finally over. The night you hoped would never end finally did and now you don't know what to do with your life. The past months you have been prepping for this night. You made your playlist, you memorized every lyric, you studied the set list, you stalked the band, you planned which songs you would video and which you would just rock out to, you did it all. Now you are left feeling empty. You were just in the same room as your favorite band and know you’re back to reality.

Listening to their music on your way home almost seems painful. It's too soon. Their music which you would normally put on if you feel this down now makes you sadder because it's just regular radio music now, it's not the live chorus with lights and pyro that you just saw. Will you ever be able to listen to them again? The answer is yes, but it takes time... a long time.

You and the friends you went with to the concert won't be able to shut up about it for at least the next month. Whoever didn't go with you will feel like they did because you describe every minute of it in extreme detail to them about a thousand times. Every time you tell someone about the concert the happiness comes back as you relive the night with them.

Speaking of reliving the moment, the videos you took and now re-watch every night before you go to bed make your heart rate accelerate. They make your PCD better and worse at the same time. These videos are pure gold and you will cherish them forever.

The worse part about post-concert depression is the realization that you probably won't see this band again for a long time. Now all you can do is wait for the next tour, wait for the next round of tickets to go on sale, wait for the giddy feeling you get when you walk into the arena and wait to sing your lungs out at the next show.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
