Spending four of the most critical years of your life in an environment that has a strict no-boys policy makes going to a co-ed college quite an experience. Without the comfort of always being able to wear a uniform, and losing the perk of going to school looking like a complete hobo, there’s quite a variety of uncomfortable changes that every girl coming from an all-girls school can relate to. Since Tina Belcher is the queen of uncomfortableness, who else would better explain it all?
1. Still not being entirely sure if waking up in the morning to put on makeup is actually worth the hassle.
Is it weird that i still don't know how to appropriately apply eyeliner? Probably.
2. Going to your first frat party and trying to fit in was quite the sight to see.
Do you think the guys here will appreciate the fact that I'm a pro at doing the hoedown throw down? No? Shoot, okay.
3. Wanting to adjust your bra in public
But then remembering that it's not socially acceptable anymore.
4. Getting to class and realizing that people of the male gender have taken up both of the empty seats next to you
5. Trying your absolute best to put effort into your appearance before going to class
Picking out a decent outfit and finding the
motivation to apply makeup is tougher than it seems, major props to the kids who do it everyday.
6. Realizing that socializing with the male species in general is a hopeless cause at this point
7. No longer being appreciated when you come into school with one of the most pathetic (and yet completely respected) outfits on one of the few dress-down days of the school year
Admit it, you had one of the greatest groutfits of all time
8. Having super conflicted feelings about leaving high school because you never thought you'd miss everything about an all-girls school so much
9. No longer being able to dramatically freak out when a boy walks into your school
Because boys at school are a "normal" and "expected" thing now, apparently.
10. Having frequent bursts of self-worth because all of the ladies and teachers you went to school with taught you damn well that you should always love yourself
Although you probably hate to admit it, you miss when going to school meant putting on a kilt and knotting your hair into a bun. You miss all the non-shaven legs, the daily "does anyone have a tampon?!", and the constant mutual understanding that someone just might be having one of those bad days. Going to an all girls school exposed you to some of the most genuine, caring, and understanding girls you will ever meet. Even though spending four years there may have created a college kid who is slightly more uncomfortable with college-related changes, you know it was totally worth it.
