Being a woman is hard, let's just get that out in the open.
Everywhere I look today, I see women trying to justify themselves. Their weight, their appearance, their language, their fashion, their makeup, everything. We live in a world where women are striving so hard to fit in and reach some sort of normalcy that ultimately has no known definition. We all say we want to be normal, but what does normal look like?
Normal looks like the skinny girl that wishes she could gain weight. Normal looks like the plus-sized girl that is doing everything she can to lose the weight. Normal looks like the girl that spends hours doing her makeup so she will feel better about herself. Normal looks like the girl who is completely comfortable in her natural skin and doesn't like makeup.
Why are we trying so hard to be normal when it doesn't even exist?
For far too long it seems the battle has been between being skinny or being plus sized. Plus sized girls promote that it's okay to be thicker because only dogs like bones. Skinny girls promote that they'd rather be underweight than look like a whale. This gruesomely ugly battle has gone back and forth, and back again. But it's time for the battle to officially DIE.
Every woman struggles. The skinny girl has flaws and insecurities just like the plus sized girl does. I don't know a single woman that would tell you they love every single part of their body and themselves. Even if its something as small as having a crooked nose, or weird toes, or chubby hands, or that stinkin' little fat roll that always shows up right beside your armpit when you try to wear a strapless shirt.
The struggle isn't about being skinny or being overweight or being pretty or being normal. The struggle is about being a woman. If we all know how hard it is to be a woman, then why do we insist on tearing other women down?
It's about dang time for women to be on the same page.
Every single woman out there is beautiful. What makes you beautiful, may not make her beautiful, and what makes her beautiful may not make the next beautiful. And that's simply the beauty of it.
There is so much more to strive to be than normal. Strive to have a beauty that radiates from within. Strive to be healthy. Strive to be successful. Strive to feel like more than enough in your own skin. Strive to be a woman that wants a man, but doesn't need one. Strive to love yourself and the woman you are because I know you've fought to become her. Strive to be awesome.
