The world is filled with an infinite amount of ways to keep your day busy. You can be occupied from the moment you wake up till you are going to bed. At some point, we all struggle with time management. We often times forget to prioritize what is important first and this typically causes you to forget about your responsibilities.
In my opinion, time management is an art. You need to learn the ways of it. It is a concept and the way to live your life. It is great what you can accomplish when you manage your time wisely and carefully. I have always struggled with time management in my freshman and sophomore year of high school.
It was not until I started Governor's School for Science and Technology that I fully understood what it meant to be organized. I started this program my junior year of high school and completed it my senior year. The program has helped me be prepared for college and strengthen my basic life skills such as time management and organization.
I learned that my time was valuable and that I always should be planning ahead. It is important to plan your future when it comes to your level of academic success because the future is always unpredictable. I was also involved in honor societies, clubs, and the color guard which forced me to manage my time.
I learned that in every free moment I had, I had to be productive. This meant that I could not just take a nap whenever I wanted. I realized that if I wanted to be able to do everything, I had to learn how to manage my time. Some ways I was able to manage my time was by setting little deadlines for me.
I made sure that I would prioritize my school work first, then my school extracurriculars, and then making time for my social life and my family. Don't forget about the most important, SLEEP! Sleep is crucial to be able to function properly and do well in your daily tasks. I always try to aim for at least six hours of sleep.
Time management can be tricky but it is a battle we all go through. I believe that the older you get, the better you get at time management. I say this because the number of responsibilities you have increases throughout time.
If you are someone who is struggling with time management, remember that you are not alone. You just need to find a good place to start. Start small, and take each step slowly. Before you know it, you will be doing everything you want and not feel overwhelmed that time is slipping away.
