Being a millennial conservative is hard, especially now due to the unwarranted backlash that the Republican nominee is receiving. Here are 9 of the many struggles that we face on the daily!
1. It can become pretty lonely.
It seems as if every other person our age is extremely liberal, so it can be pretty frustrating when you just want to converse with a like-minded individual, and you can't find one.
2. You become overly excited when you do find another conservative.
Seeing someone on campus with a shirt or bumper sticker that supports your favorite political candidate is the most exciting thing ever.
3. "So, you don't support women?"
Just because I'm not a feminist does not mean that I don't wish the best for women. Enough said.
4. Social media is a dangerous place.
As a conservative, scrolling through Facebook and Twitter can be immensely frustrating. Because most of your followers and friends are probably your age and most likely liberal, you sometimes feel as if you need to respond with a rebuttal to every. single. post.
5. "You are racist, sexist, and homophobic."
Nope, I'm just a conservative with traditional values.
6. Everyone loves Obama and you're like, but....
7. "Only white, old men are republicans."
Nikki Haley, Ben Carson, and Paul Ryan would beg to differ.
8. "You don't support immigration?"
Wrong. I don't support ILLEGAL immigration.
