DIYs have to be one of the best things that ever exist. When you can't buy something, you can make it yourself. Even as a child, I used to DIY things, often not because I couldn't buy it but because I loved making things by myself and then enjoyed sharing the masterpiece with everyone.
The amazement of DIY-ing always captivated me. Looking at all the YouTube gurus made me feel like I could conquer the world with a paintbrush or mod podge. Then after several times, I decide to finally put all the intensive research to use and go on my glamorous DIY journey.
Although several times I succeeded, there were many times when I failed.
And after a weekend full of DIY work, I've noticed a wonderful pattern during the adventure. For some it may be worse than others, but for sure this pattern does exist.
1. When you're excited to go to the store, and you buy all the tiny little supplies
...but at the checkout you realize your wallet isn't cutout for it.
2. When you try mapping out the idea but your art skills are like a kindergartner
3. When you start working on the projects and realize you forgot some supplies in the store
And all your work gets delayed.
4. And you end up taking several runs back to the store
before falling in defeat and doing more DIY for a DIY.
5. When you get paint on your favorite pair of jeans
6. When you burn yourself with a hot glue gun and you never want to see it again
but you use them anyway because they're the icing on the cake.
7. When objects are too sharp to handle
Even for a 17-year-old.
8. When you see it coming together
9. But your cat knocks it over and destroys your soul
even when you don't have a cat.
10. When you recreate it, but people mistake it for your little sister's art project
Thanks.
11. And when all bad things have finally happened to your DIY project, you decide to give up
So you decide to just say "screw it," and buy it from Etsy.
