The Story of THAT Final

We all have that one exam...

The Story of THAT Final
Vanderbilt University

We all have THAT final. The one we have dreaded all semester. The one that decides your fate, at least for that class. In case you are the one college student who has not had THAT final yet, here’s what the timeline looks like.

First, suffer through the class.

It is always the worst class of the semester. You dread going to it every single week. But you go… at least once for the semester.

Remember the final.

Oh yeah that thing… Maybe you should get ready for that.

Ignore the final.

It’s only real if you think about it. Plus you have other finals to get ready for.

Freak out because of it.

This one test determines the rest of your life. What if you fail? You’ll have to drop out of school. Your parents will disown you. Make at least three back up plans for your life during this stage.

Stop freaking out and study.

Ok, freaking out is not very beneficial. Just sit down, take a deep breath and study the notes from that one nerd who actually went to class.

Take the final.

The moment is here. Time to spit out all the information you learned last night.

Party because it’s over!

Yay! You did it! It’s over! No more of that class!

Realize you have no clue if you passed.

Instant anxiety. This anxiety is like the earlier freak out but now there is absolutely nothing you can do about it.

Find out your grade.

Whether you have the patience to wait for grades to be posted or if you email your professor to find out, you just have to know. And then accept the fate based on your grade.

Repeat next year, but hopefully in a different class!

It is the time of our lives that we are beginning to enter the adult world and most of us, if not all of us, have no idea what we are doing. It's like starting a video game, but skipping the tutorial. We're all just running around aimlessly hoping we accidentally do something right that moves us along the right path. Now that graduation has just happened, or is right around the corner for some of us, it's time to start thinking about how we are going to take care of ourselves once we are on our own.

If you’re anything like me, you love a good cup of coffee. My coffee always comes from Starbucks; I refuse to drink it from anywhere else. Over the years, it’s become one of my biggest addictions. It is no secret that many American traditions have changed over time. As we grow older we change in so many ways that it only makes sense that we also change the way we celebrate special occasions. Of course when it comes to the holidays there are some family traditions that many of us still excitedly look forward to, whether it is eating your favorite dish or seeing favorite cousin. However, we all know that the holidays have overall changed a little from what they used to be.
