We all love a good stormy day and night in the lively PNW. I mean what’s not to love and fantasize about when the rain is pouring down than some snuggly clothes and a good cup of tea or coffee. I mean then of course there are some days that are a little bit more frightful than those simple drizzles, for example the days we have been dealing with of late. So I thought I would think of some simple and warming activities for those days that either could be for the small showers or when those storms are a-brewin’. I also put them in two categories because just when there is water falling from the sky at any rate doesn’t just contain you to your room!

Indoor Activities:

Reading: I mean, of course, this is the first thing we all think of. You snuggle up with a blanket with a good book by a window and call it a good day. I mean I’m an English major there is NOTHING better than one of my favorite books or a good book off the pile of books that I am to read very soon. Among the different things that we could do this can be the most beneficial; you are able to gain knowledge on something or even catch up on your school books.

Writing: Again, this is the English major coming out in me but I mean this is not limited to emotional poetry or extra dark short stories. This can be devotionals or even just journaling that you have been missing from schooling or even just some reflective time to see where you are and write about it. It also gets your creative juices flowing for you and to allow some outlet.

Baking: This is definitely not everyone’s favorite thing but I believe that it’s good for you. I mean sweets are great and it’s a very loving act of taking care of not yourself but of others if you live with others. It is therapeutic and can keep you busy and moving when you happen to be stuck in the house.

Arts & Crafts: I feel this one is meant to be. I mean I myself spend so much time on Pinterest and this time is meant for me. You spend time working on some of those arts and crafts to be able to maybe do something creative. These projects are also things that allow you to feel cathartic and even get you moving around the house.

Nap: This one is just obvious. When it’s cold outside you just want to be able to cuddle up underneath all those blankets and fall asleep. Naps are one of my favorite things especially on those stormy days.

Outdoor Activities:

Puddle Hopping: This one is just one of the greatest things that we did as kids was hop in puddles in our rain boots and honestly it never got old. Raining is definitely a motivation to not leave your house but when you want to leave hopping in puddles is a great nearby activity. It allows you to feel child-like and happy.

Coffee Shop Hopping: This is just a coincidence that these both have to do with hopping-When you no longer want to be inside or hang out outside why not go to another place of business. You are able to get warm beverages (or cold I don’t judge) and sit a great table and do any of the above!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
