The State Fair of Texas

Fried food galore

The State Fair of Texas

Going to the State Fair of Texas is almost a rite of passage. If you have not tried the crazy fried foods or seen Big Tex, are you even a Texan? Last weekend I went to the state fair with my dad, brother, boyfriend, and a family friend and let me tell you it was a blast! Being the only girl with a group of guys is definitely a different experience. You spend most of your time looking at the fancy new cars than sitting in the shows or shopping.

Even though we only went to one show and looked at the marketplace for a quick second, I was able to try so many new foods. Guys like to EAT EAT EAT! So when everyone has a different fried food, you get to have a bite of them all! I was about to try:

Fried Cheesecake:

Fried Pecan Pie:

Fried Oreos and Fried Spaghetti and Meatballs! Unfortunately, I did not get a picture of those.

Another one of my favorite things to do at the fair is go to the petting zoo. They have different animals from all over the world, they even have a baby giraffe! Probably the cutest thing ever were the piglets and baby donkey! It was pretty funny to see my boyfriend get so excited about petting the buffalo! (They are not as soft and fluffy as they look in pictures).

Of course there was a football game in the Cotton Bowl, the Air Force game! There were Air Force students and fans everywhere! We got to see jets fly over the grounds and then six men jumped out of a plane each holding a flag. If you have never seen anything like that, you definitely need to.

All in all, the State Fair of Texas was another trip to remember. There is nothing more exciting than people watching and eating crazy fried foods! Next time the fair is in season, make sure you get your tickets!

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

833
Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
