The beginning of the semester is always hard. Getting back into the swing of school, having to read what feels like 10,000 pages, with papers and speeches to give, it becomes overwhelming, especially when you turned your brain off for an entire month like I did. Come to think of it, the difficulty of college comes in waves. You get the hang of it after the first two weeks, but then midterms smack you in the face. You go off on spring break and forget everything, then you have to do the piles of homework on Sunday night. After that, you feel like you just might survive. Oh, but then essay after essay is due and presentation after presentation is given. And let's not forget our favorite week at the end: finals week. It's the most dreaded week of the whole school year because on top of studying your brains out, you have to pack up your room, and make sure every surface of your side of the room is spotless. Isn't college great?
Whatever year you might be, college is hard. It has its perks with making lasting friends and memories that you'll back on forever, but it seems like a pretty excruciating thing to go through. Scratch that. It is a very excruciating thing to go through.
Because of this excruciating pain that we have to go through it is OK to take a break and relax. You are allowed to lay in bed and watch Netflix or go out with friends. You've worked hard. You earn a night out (or in for my introvert friends). Whatever takes your mind off the school work for a quick second and allows you to breathe. If you don't, you will get stressed out and break down either mentally or physically. So let's save some stressful souls out there and just sit back and relax. Take a moment to enjoy the hectic college life, and remember college doesn't last forever.
