When you're in high school, the months are considered as follows: January, February, March, Prom Season, Prom Season, June, July, August, September, October, November, December. If you haven't already noticed from scrolling through endless images of dresses on Instagram, or passing various "promposals" in the school parking lot, we are in prom season! As I prepare for my own senior prom, I am noticing that every high school student operates the same way.:
STAGE 1: Finding the perfect dress
This is a serious concern, because God forbid you have the same dress as a girl you've never talked too, right?
STAGE 2: Finding a date
Finding a date could easily be one of the most stressful things about prom. If you have so many people that want to ask you (I know -- I hate those girls too), or you can't seem to find anyone, finding a date can be challenging! (But remember, you don't always need a date to have fun, going with friends is normally the best part!)
STAGE 3: Finding an after prom house
Honestly, after prom is probably what everyone is looking forward to more than the actual dance, am I right?
STAGE 4: Finding your chill when you realize how much money you've spent
A dress. Hair. Nails. Flowers. Tan. $30 here...$20 there...and all of a sudden you're $600 deep into a night that's going to last for 3 hours
STAGE 5: Finding the time to get everything done
The week before prom should be a national holiday. I mean, when are we suppose to get our nails done if we are stuck in school?
STAGE 6: Finding out all your stress was worth it
Even if your spray tan wasn't perfect, your hair got a little frizzy, or someone wore the same dress as you, you still manage to have fun at prom.
Prom day might have cost you $600, and you might have shed a few tears here or there about trying to find a date or dress, but always remember to have a great night. As soon as you get to prom, you stop focusing on the little details and just soak up having a great time with your classmates.
