How dare she.

As recruitment week finally ends and the glitter and flash tattoos are finally wearing off from bid day, we can finally take a seat and realize how hellish it was. Hours upon hours of cleaning the house for hundreds of girls to wander through. Dozens of centerpieces made. So much chanting that you are left with no voice. Feet covered in blisters from heels you originally thought you could handle. A week truly from hell that you are so happy to move on from. That is, unless you are experiencing the unfortunate experience of your rush crush choosing a different sorority than yours.

1. Shock

As you run down the stairs of your sorority house in a dead sprint to see the new member list before anyone else, you can't quite grasp the realization that your PNM isn't on the list.

2. Denial

You proceed with bid day with the rest of your sorority and new members. You secretly believe that there must be a mistake. Surely she will come. There was just a mistake on the list....until you see her running down the street into a different house.

3. Bargaining

You find yourself wanting to go over there and fight in an attempt to win back your rush crush that was undoubtedly going to be your little. You believe you can change her mind if you can just go over there and talk it out.

4. Guilt

You start thinking about what you did wrong when you were rushing her. Were you too over-the-top? Did you ask her questions that were too basic? Did you sound boring? Pretentious? Obviously, it is all your fault.

5. Anger

You begin to think again about going over there to fight for her. You start playing, in your mind, dramatic movie scenes of revenge, trying to decide how you are going to do it. Your ideas run rampant and you sound a little psycho but hey, you're rightfully mad.

6. Depression

Your friends try to console you by reminding you that you only met her two days ago and in a conversation that was less than twenty minutes. You can't help but feel heartbroken though. You know that none of the other new members can be as great of a little as she could have been.

7. Acceptance

You've realized that she probably ended up in a place that was a better fit for her. It is time for you to go have fun with your new members because who knows, you might just meet your little.

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
