We all have at one time or another been coerced by our friends to go on a hike. Whether it is for exercise purposes or to see scenic views, there are of few stages you go through before it is all said and done. Here are some of the things everyone who has been on a hike with friends has experienced.

1. Getting ready

You and your friends have decided where to go hike and you are all packed and en route.

2. Starting off

You all are all excited and optimistic of the endeavor you are about to start on. Spirits are high.

3. Glad we did this

You're about an hour in and you're feeling good, you and your friends are still thinking this was a good idea. You may have even thought about going doing this more often.

4. Soreness

Your legs are starting to get a little sore, but you think this is a good source of exercise and it’ll go by quick.

5. Tiredness

Your optimism is slowly declining, and you and your friends have started to take more and more snack and water breaks.

6. This was a bad idea

The doubt starts to build; you are getting bored and starting to believe this was not a good idea after all.

7. Almost there

You are so close you can almost taste it -- either that or the five bottles of water you chugged on the way up.

8. Tired

Your body is starting to give out, and your legs are turning into Jell-O. You just realized the farther you walk, the more you have to walk back.

9. You made it

Finally! Your hard work has paid off. Over three hours later you can see a waterfall that would have looked just as good on your computer screen.

10. Never again

You make your way back to your car as quickly as possible and convince yourself you are never doing this again.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that.
