The S**t No One Tells You About Parenthood
Erica Bristow

. When you're trying to become pregnant, everyone tells you how amazing parenthood is. They go on and on about how beautiful pregnancy and childbirth are. All you hear about is how adorable those tiny babies are and the cute things they do as they grow. And all of those things are true. However, I'm here to talk about the s**t no one tells you about parenthood.

When discussing parenthood, everyone says you will never sleep again. When they say this, it's usually accompanied by a giggle. DO NOT take this as a cute innocent giggle. Instead imagine it as an evil laugh. Why? Because it is. They giggle because they know what is in your future, but they are too tired to actually work up a full blown laugh. No one warns you that this lack of sleep will cause you to do things you swore you would never do. It starts simple. You start co-sleeping when you once swore that would never happen. Then you try to make coffee and end up making yourself a bottle or using salt instead of sugar. Sadly, that's the tip of the ice burg.

As a parent you soon learn that conversations are forever changed. You will suddenly find yourself talking to adults and suddenly announcing you have to potty. Then for some strange reason, you almost always end up talking about your kid's poop. You may start out with a super cute color-coordinated diaper bag and purse combo. Trust me, eventually, you ditch the purse. And if you have more than one child, especially close in age, you figure out that a backpack is much more realistic. If you do by some miracle get to go somewhere without your little bundle of joy.....you will still find pacifiers, diapers, or toys in your purse. Oh and don't worry. There is stillness or even under on be had.

At some point you WILL have to decide whether that brown stuff is chocolate or poop. I promise. No avoiding it. You will have explosive diapers. And at some point, you won't catch that in time and your child will be playing in it. Don't even get me started on the weird things your kid will eat. That list is entirely too long. The truth is, there will never be a dull moment.

Parenthood is hard. No denying that. However, it's like anything else in the world, you wouldn't appreciate the sun without the rain. The next time you find yourself talking about poop or just feeling like you want to lock yourself in the closet with cookies and wine... remember that it's all part of the ride. The rain brings a beautiful ray of Sunshine and those little smiles are completely worth every moment of rain.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
