The Spirit Of America In The Wake Of Tragedy
Watchusplaygames.wordpress.com

On September 11, 2001, militants associated with Islamic extremist group, al-Qaeda, hijacked four U.S. airliners and executed suicide attacks on multiple targets. Two planes intentionally flew into the towers of the World Trade Center located in New York City, a third plane hit the Pentagon outside Washington D.C., and a final aircraft crashed into a nearby field base. These terrorist attacks caused extensive fatalities and structural desolation which ultimately triggered one of the most profound U.S. initiatives combating radical terrorism. Under the fearless leadership of the Bush Administration, heroic groundwork from police officers and firefighters, and the valiant services offered by ordinary citizens, this merciless attack on American soil is one of the greatest examples of national unity and strength of character.

We live in a time of constant political discourse and social nonconformity. A time of consuming technology and misguided values. A time of selfish gain and impure intentions. Our nation wastes more time complaining about trivial issues than searching for the necessary solution. Individual entitlement and personal profit are the unfortunate sources of motivation in our expanding society. The United States is heading in a dangerous direction. In order to preserve the integrity and reputation of our advancing nation, each citizen and elected official must recollect the terrible tragedy of 9/11 that reshaped the character of our country.

Despite the horrific crashes and numerous fatalities, it is imperative to celebrate the countless individuals who offered their services on Ground Zero. We must recognize the tireless efforts by police officers and firefighters who selflessly hurled themselves into unstable buildings to save individuals trapped beneath towering metal and sizable rubble. We must acknowledge the fearless medical staff that spent hours transporting wounded individuals to local hospitals, clinics, or even nearby tents. We must appreciate the Coast Guard and other available border control services that assisted in transferring sick and injured civilians to safety on the mainland. We must appreciate the search and rescue efforts that cleared and removed the profound scattering of rubble and extensive debris. The National Guard, Marine Corps, U.S. Navy, and other military personnel was dispatched throughout New York City to assist the wounded and administer treatment and moral support to the shocked nation.

The terrorist attack on September 11, 2001, was truly one of the most terrifying experiences on American soil. Without the courageous efforts and services from police officers, medical staff, and even common citizens, 9/11 would have impacted American morale for the worse. As grateful citizens, we must remember the heroic sacrifice of countless individuals. Nearly 3,000 Americans died during this terrorist catastrophe as well as 6,000 injured or severely wounded. It is essential to offer our deepest condolences to the families who lost loved ones during this frightening period. Our thoughts and prayers are with them all as they continue to endure a truly unforgettable burden. America is by their side every step of the way as we will never forget the valiant commitment on Ground Zero. I personally thank my fellow brothers and sisters who assisted throughout a seemingly incomprehensible act of terror. Even so, America preserved and strengthened as a united nation.

Despite the dreadful acts of terror intended to frighten our nation into chaos and helplessness, the terrorists, identified under the al-Qaeda regime, failed. Enemies can attempt to trample the foundations of our biggest buildings but they will never breach the impenetrable spirit of America. In the words of George W. Bush, active president during the 9/11 attack, "We are the brightest beacon for freedom and opportunity in the world and no one will keep that light from shining." As we remember the tragedies that occurred on this 15th anniversary of 9/11, I ask each citizen to dedicate a moment of silence and prayer for all those families still grieving with the loss of loved ones. America will not support any acts of evil or terror in the world, especially against the citizens who encompass this great nation.

The United States has endured decades of profound suffering and intimidation, however, such hardship sparked an unwavering resolve for peace and prosperity. We must stand up for what is right and strike down laws for moral reasons. We must wage war on terror and inhumanity instead of arguing with our neighbors. We must sacrifice our time and talents to promote liberty and justice for all. We must avoid prideful judgement and senseless drama for personal satisfaction. We must strive to act like mature men and women without generating animosity. We shouldn't identify ourselves by who we voted for in the last election but by the content of our character. 9/11 struck immense fear in our hearts yet we remained fearless. America is a nation for others but we must take a moment to recognize the individuals who instill an unyielding sense of freedom and security despite fear of the unknown or fear itself.

God Bless the United States of America.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

It's not all morning coffees and singing along to the radio.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!
