The Spiral That Leads To Enjoying Ariana Grande

When you tell yourself you won't like a singer... I lied.

We’ve all known this moment. A craze begins over a singer and you say to yourself “Nope. I will not adore this person or their singing. This is overrated, and I can resist. I shall not listen, and I shall not like it.” You stay true to this little mantra for days, weeks and months—depending on your “resist” skill level—until one day you hear a song. You think this song is amaaazing.

You look up said song, and you discover that, oh no. It is the singer you dedicated your precious time to not loving. This is exactly what happened to me with Ariana Grande. Don’t get me wrong, I liked her in “Cat and Sam” when I was younger, but liking her as a singer? I chalked it up to another celeb-turned-singer. But liking her was unavoidable, so here I am months after saying I did not like her sound. Here is how things progressed into being 100% all for Ari.

Her Hair:

As someone who has had long, thick hair, I have mad respect for Ariana’s hair. It is literally on point. Her signature ponytail is every goal, and every time it popped up in my Facebook feed the more I admired it. I mean, if I figured out that ponytail, I would not have cut my hair off.

Super Catchy Radio Songs... That I Didn’t Realize She Sang:

Seriously, I can think of at least five songs that have been on the radio throughout the past few years that I would totally jam out to in the car. I had no clue who sang them, but I really liked them. Honestly, I am STILL discovering some of her mysterious car-jam songs. My mind is blown. Naturally, once I realized it was Ariana Grande, I was bound to fall for her music entirely. I’d have one less problem if I looked up song lyrics more often.

That Complexion:

I mean for real, girl. Do you HAVE to make every woman on earth this jealous of your smooth blemish free complexion? Okay, okay, so maybe I’m also a little jealous because my gingery self is crazy pale. But her skin is silk-levels of perfect. Not fair. At all.

Her Style:

Ari is majorly stylish. I need someone to give me a million dollar budget so I can run rampant and buy all of it—I’m going to need a bigger closet. I normally hate bows, but she’s so cute and quirky that she makes me dislike them a little less. Also her crop-top and vintage skirt game is out of this world.

She is Fierce:

She’s a great advocate of proper feminism and empowering other women. She blatantly calls out double standards and unfair stereotypes. She’s assertive without being catty, and she handles most situations gracefully. She also has an insane vocal range. No, seriously, have you HEARD her impersonate other singers? She can hit about any note and it’s amazing. Ariana Grande is overall an epic singer. After I realized all these things, I guess I do like her after all.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…
