To be totally honest, Lost interest in Valentines Day not too long after I got into middle school, once class parties transitioned into having to spend the day surrounded with annoying couples AND having to go to school on top of it all, the holiday lost all of its appeal. But, as a college student, I've learned to be a little less bitter, and that there are other ways to enjoy Valentines day, So, here are some ideals for all of the other single fangirls out there.

1.Get all of that extra work done

If you're anything like me, you have a major procrastination problem. But if you want some time to spend to yourself on Valentines day, all of that stuff needs to get done. Stressing over neglected responsibilities while trying to relax is never a good way to spend your time, trust me, you'll thank yourself later.

2. Change into something comfy.

Unless my classes get cancelled, I'm gonna be fairly busy on the 14th. Chances are, a lot of you will be too. So when you finally get home for the day, the best thing to do would be to put on your favorite lounging clothes. Refuse any friends who want you to go out, once you're in your comfy clothes, you gotta stay put.

3. Get your favorite foods.

Personally, I'm gonna be loading up on the pizza, chocolate, tea, and pellegrino. Calories don't count on holidays after all. Make sure you have all of the delicious snacks you could possibly want for the evening.

Also, If you're going to be celebrating with friends, pooling together large amounts of food to share during a movie marathon is always a good ideal.

4.Pick out what you will nerd out over

Books, movies, whatever you want. I'm going to be reading Outlander myself. Which is a very long book, so that's probably all I'll need for the evening. But if you plan on watching a movie, or reading a book that is much shorter, I would recommend having a few options. Romance stories are typical for the holiday, but if that's not your thing, its not required.

5. Relax for the rest of the night

You've got your work done, you've got food, you've got entertainment. Enjoy it, spend some time focusing on the stuff you want to do, not the stuff you have to do.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings.
