A letter to my adoptive hometown
Every year, I spend about 8 month here. When I first arrived here, I had only lived in one place that I clearly remembered. As a result, I needed to set up new connections and re-establish my roots.
Clinton,South Carolina is a gret place to do that, as it placed me in a town that had a different identity than my hometown back in Florida. It is smaller, and includes different restaurants and what not in a town that rallies around its college. People knock the town for not having certain things, but those things in need are within an hour’s drive. Plus, ot having some of these extras saves broke college kids money.
The people in the town make it feel like a home away from home, and inquire about how the studying is progressing. Furthermore, the people who I have connections with make sure the kids are doing well in other areas as well, and truly care.
At least in my opinion, the townspeople and college kids get along, a scenario that is not always the case in other small towns with other colleges. Thank you Clinton, for yet another great year, and I will think of you when I am home for the summer.
See you in the Fall !
