I like writing the smallest of short stories here are a few I have written based off princesses..

Snow by Dakota Day

He looked at her.

There she laid white as snow.

Snow, like the day she was born.

A single tear rolled down his now bearded cheek at the memory, and he smiled.

Then he shut the glass door to where she lay, waiting.

Play by Dakota Day

Once upon a time, the princess could play all night and day, unaware of anyone watching her. As she grew older, she grew more silent. She still had some of the stories but they were all in her head. As the years went by she played even less for fear of being seen, and thought of a fool.

Though, one night, she found herself back in her old playing grounds. She stood in the warm welcoming wind ready to play when she realized nothing was coming. She was too weighed down with “adult” problems to think of anything to play. Then she looked up and saw a face of judgement coming from a castle window.

And she was done.

Pray by Dakota Day

The murderer was unaware.

That he was the prey of his prey.

Max by Dakota Day

She ran down the stairs with a great speed, and made it outside quickly. The bastard who did this will pay, she thought. She threw her hands up and froze the scene. She was looking for the only moving person. Then she found him, her boyfriend. Why? Why would he do this? He turned to face her, but her eyes dropped to the baby in its carrier and it was silent.

Frozen by Dakota Day

She pounded down the steps enraged at the King.

He did not understand how he upset her yet, but he would soon.

She lifted her hands to the sky and with a stomp, it began.

Clear and crystal, then collecting, forming and becoming something more than her.

These moments of clarity refocused her.

I wonder if you can guess my favorite?

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

It's not all morning coffees and singing along to the radio.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!
