Living life as a short person has its low moments. People always seem to think you are taller than you are. Growing up, I was always the shortest in my class, but I was told one day I would be 5’4 inches. I am 21 years old and 5 feet tall.
I always set my goals high. I may need a ladder to reach them, but I am up for the challenge.
Here are some things I deal with on a daily basis of being short.
1. I need a ladder to get in and out of bed.
2. I walk around my room on tippy toes.
3. All of my pants are tailored.
I also have to tailor my long dresses.
4. All of my shoes have at least a 3 inch heel.
I have the right to be tall!
5. When I drive my truck, I need a box to see over the steering wheel.
6. Don’t need to worry about ducking under trees.
7. My feet don’t touch the ground in most chairs.
It honestly isn't that bad. It is pretty relaxing.
8. I am perfect hug size.
Unless you are over 6 feet tall...then I can hear your stomach.
9. Going to the gym has many struggles.
10. Swimming struggles...
I can swim pretty well, but when it comes to the deep end, it’s a struggle. Five feet is just too deep.
11. I get confused as a kid - I blend in.
12. Going to the airport and asking for my “real age.”
Even though I am 21, I still get asked if I am 14-years-old.
Honestly, sometimes I feel like a small dog in a big dog world. Being short isn’t that bad though. I am not the only one that lives the short life. Being short is one more trait you have to make you who you are. So for all my fellow short people out there: You are beautiful no matter what height you are.
