The Seven Dwarfs Of Finals Week

Finals week gives college students a wild range of emotions as crazy as the Seven Dwarfs.

It is that time of year: finals. Depending on how well you did in a class, finals may either make or break you. Sometimes you will get lucky with a professor who makes the final optional or lets you use your study guide on the test. Whether you're a college freshman experiencing finals for the first time or a super-senior ready to get out, everyone goes through many stages of finals week. You can go from one end of the spectrum to the other in just a snap. Everyone goes through an array of emotions. Finals week can get the best and worst out of every one of us.

Here are seven characteristics everyone goes through, as told by Snow White's Seven Dwarfs.

1. Sneezy

I would get a cold this week. Is it from the weather? Is it from the dust in my dorm that has not been cleaned all semester? Is it from the all-nighters I've pulled all week?

2. Doc

I can do this! I will pass all of the finals and make the dean's list! I may have procrastinated on the readings all semester, but I will make it up on the final. I will finish strong!

3. Bashful

I want to have a group study session, but I don't talk to anyone in this class. I could email the class, but will anyone reply. I could go to the professor's office hours, but they don't even know my name. What am I going to do?

4. Dopey

It's 4 a.m., and I have been in the library since 9 pm yesterday. I've drunk two venti coffees from Starbucks, my head is pounding, and I'm ready to go to bed. I've lost my mind. Why am I laughing at nothing?

5. Sleepy

When was the last time I actually had a good night's sleep? I got three hours of sleep last night and two the night before. I took an hour nap today. Am I a walking zombie?

6. Grumpy

I got two hours of sleep last night, I have not eaten a real meal in weeks, and I am not prepared for this final. I don't know if I should be mad at myself, my professor, or the world. Somebody hand me a Snickers.

7. Happy

As I take each final, I'm one step closer to being out of school for awhile. No school, no stress, no problems. Sweet, sweet freedom here I come!

As you head into the next few weeks of final, remember a few simple tips: Get some sleep, eat a healthy meal, and get some fresh air. Study hard, but don't overwork yourself. Your grade does not define you. With that being said, don't sell yourself short. Try your hardest. You're just a week away from sweet, sweet freedom! Plus, Meredith Grey didn't get to marry McDreamy by not studying. You've got this!

To The Cheerful Person On Their Rainy Days, You Are Valid

The world is not always sunshine and rainbows, and you do not have to be, either.

Ask friends of mine to name a quality about me, and one a lot them will point out the fact that I am almost always smiling. I like to laugh and smile -- not to quote Buddy the Elf in April, but smiling is my favorite! It is probably my favorite go-to expression. However, what a lot of people do not see is that I have my down days. I have days when smiling and laughing is a real struggle, or when I have so much on my plate that going out of my way to behappy takes more effort than I have stored in me. Be it a symptom of college and growing up or a facet of life, I cannot always be content.

Amidst my hectic college career, I always find time for one thing, even on the busiest weeks: Parks and Recreation. This show has made me laugh and has made me cry, but most of all I have related to this show more than I would like to admit.

Here are some "Parks and Rec" moments that relate to life struggles that just about everyone faces.

April Ludgate from Parks and Recreation is notorious for her "I don't care" attitude. She speaks her mind without caring what anyone thinks of her. Fans love her because she isn't afraid to be herself. April can seem cold and negative, but she's really just fearless and strong-minded. And despite her sometimes harsh words, April truly cares about the people she's closest to. These are all reasons she is the epitome of a college student. April complains whenever she has to do any kind of work, but ends up doing the work anyway. April Ludgate is the ultimate college student spirit animal.

11 Ways To Live The Best Life You Can

Life is full of twists and turns, but you have to keep going.

Life is all about twist and turns, sideways and which ways. Nothing is permanent, so we should take risks, and chase our dreams. We are taught at a young age many lessons that will follow us into adulthood. What we aren't taught is how to feel, and how we handle those emotions. We just have to figure them out ourselves, and that's not fun. In my 21 years of living, I have come to know that way too many people can't handle emotions, or the fact that not everyone is dead inside like them. When you're like me, and you have zero control over your emotions, it's hard to feel comfortable around people who aren't so in touch with themselves. As much as I would like to feel nothing at times, I've accepted who I am and the fact that I can cry over practically nothing. So, there are some things in life that you just have to do.
