After weeks of stressing over finals, the moment comes when you take your last one for the semester, you go back to your room and wonder what to do next. Maybe you have plans, maybe you don’t. Whatever the case may be, there comes that feeling where you still have something left to do for school, but there’s nothing. As I just finished my first official day of summer 2016, all day I could not stop thinking about school, all the assignments I did this semester, and making sure I did everything I could’ve done, as if there were still something I could do.
If you don’t have plans this summer, it’s important to remember that even though you have all this free time, don’t take advantage of it. Pick up a hobby, get a job, take a summer class, or do some volunteering. Being kept a bit busy by doing something productive will make it easier to switch back to going to school in the fall.
If you have fun, vacationing, plans, just remember that vacations don’t always come around. Enjoy every second that you can of it, and try not to worry about what you’re going to do after it's over. You may be tempted to check your final grades whenever you get the chance, but try to resist. Relax, and enjoy the trip and your destination.
If you don’t have a vacation planned, but have multiple jobs or summer classes, don’t forget to take some time to unwind. It may suck at times that you don’t have as much free time as most people around this time of year, but just remember that you’re doing these things in order to better your future.
In the end, everyone needs time to relax and get rid of all of that stress that was built up from the semester and get ready for a whole new one.
