As your high school career is coming to a close, remember that your life is going to change and become a lot harder.
Dear Second Semester High School Senior,
Well, this is it. Senior year is coming to an end and it's starting to look like the beginning of the end. Senior trip, prom, class night, and the grand finale- graduation. After graduation, you're free up until you move all of your stuff into your dorm and when your freshman classes start.
Your life is going by in a blur and the only thing you are aiming towards is graduation. Well, what is going to happen after you graduate? Are you sure you're picking the right major? It's okay to change your mind and change is again.
Going to college is a lot different than high school. You are going to have to study, it's not just winging it anymore because you will fail. Making friends is also going to be harder because you were with the same group of people since kindergarten and you had close friends up until graduation. Be prepared to lose friends and be prepared to make new ones. Personally, I lost a handful of friends but I still talk to my one friend on a weekly basis. I talk to her mom and I connect with them through Facebook and we tag each other in posts especially them when they tag me in Peeps posts (gross).
When you move into your new dorm, you're going to miss being home- I know I did. I missed how my mom was down the hall and my dogs were there to greet me when I got home from school. Since I go to school about 20 minutes away, I see my mom more than she probably wants to see me- oops. But once you find a group of friends, you make connections at school and you'll learn to enjoy it more.
So, as you enter the final stretch, just remember where you come from. Don't forget your home and I can bet you that your parents will tell you that your room is always there for you if you miss them too much. Your siblings are another story, they'll want to take your room and never want to see you again.
Sincerely,
The Second Semester College Freshman that knows what you're going through
P.S. Always remember that to your parents, you're always going to look like this to them.
