We already lost Vine. It was the source of all the great internet memes of our generation. What do we do now? It’s like we’ve gone back into the Dark Ages of top and bottom memes and rage comics. What do we do without our 6 seconds of mindless entertainment? YouTube videos are too long and you have to wait for the ad. Tumblr is too controversial to browse through (plus there are weird people on Tumblr). Facebook is where mom and dad creep on every second of our lives, and Tinder and Snapchat are full of douchebag boys. Where do we turn? Our saving grace: Twitter. Twitter seems to be the source of humor and memes for teens ages 18 to 22 now, and ever since we lost Vine (R.I.P.) we’ve nowhere else to turn for funny jokes.
Then, our worst nightmare happens: Twitter. Is gone. Teens have no outlet for jokes. Twitter is gone, Vine is gone, and every other social media site just isn’t as funny as the others. It’s just not the same! Riots in the streets; the Twitter headquarters is abuzz with employees trying to find out what happened, but it’s too late. Hordes of angry people have stormed the building and are shouting down below. The CEO of Twitter looks down on them, hands clasped behind his back, wondering where he went wrong. His personal assistant knocks on the door. “Sir?” she asks hurriedly. “They’ve broken the windows and the entire first floor is on fire. We have to evacuate immediately.” “Let them,” the CEO says. “What?” says the assistant, horrified. “Let them burn the place down. We’ve nothing to defend ourselves with anyway. We must accept our fate.”
All hope for memes is lost. All 90’s kids must rely on is their memory of the great memes of their time. Pepe, and all of his forms… grumpy cat… high Steve and drunk college kid. May all of them rest in peace and live on in our memories… then the revolt comes. We realize that if we want the memes to live on, then we have to create a platform that is just like Vine, and just like Twitter. We have to create the newest social media platform that is easily accessible and easy to navigate. It is the rise… of Twine. A combination of Twitter and Vine, this app allows people to make 10 second looping videos. It also allows people to post a status that’s limited only to 150 characters, unless you upgrade to Twine Pro, which provides the user with unlimited characters in their Twines. Soon enough, Twine spreads all over the world, reinstating a platform for the best memes and jokes for teenagers to enjoy. Peace has been restored. The world is at rest.
