Gucci Mane has been having a huge 2016 after his long-awaited release from prison back in May. He dropped his album “Everybody Looking” back in July and then “WOPTOBER” in the middle of October. He also released a mixtape with Future “Free Bricks 2: Zone 6 Edition” but he wasn't done there.
Gucci is closing out the year with a little holiday cheer, his new album “The Return of East Atlanta Santa” was released on the 16th. The 13 track album features production by some of the hottest producers out right including Mike WiLL Made-It, Zaytoven, Murda Beatz, and Metro Boomin.
The opening track “St. Brick Intro” video features Gucci literally becoming Santa Claus himself but instead of leaving toys he leaves wads of cash and some provocatively dressed female elves. Sounds like a great Christmas right?
The song “Both” features longtime friend and collaborator Drake. Gucci raps about visiting Canada, Drakes home country, but needing Drakes assistance to “pull some strings” because of all Guwop’s felonies. Hopefully, this track is just a sample of whats to come.
There has been much speculation about a potential collab album from the duo titled “The 6ers” for some time now. Recently when asked about it Gucci said he was more concerned with “The Return of East Atlanta Santa and that Drake was more concerned about his upcoming project “More Life” but he did say “The 6ers” is “100 percent” on the way. Leaving all fans to continue to wait eagerly.
The album also features up-and-coming stars Travis Scott on “Last Time” and Bryson Tiller on “Drove U Crazy” both songs are certified bangers. The music video for “Last Time” features Gucci, Scott, and filmmaker Harmony Korine dancing in the snow and sitting in a car thats floating through the air and eventually catches fire. Gucci was previously in Korine’s film “Spring Breakers” and is set to star in his new film “The Trap” with Al Pacino, and James Franco.
With three albums, a feature on Rae Sremmurd number one hit “Black Beatles” and a mixtape with Future 2016 truly was the year of Gucci.
