We all grew up watching that one TV show over and over. For me, that one show was MTV's The Hills. I cannot even tell you how many times I have watched this series , it is kind of embarrassing, to be honest but each time I watch it I learn something new.

Not only did this show provide me with a fun and exciting plot to follow but it actually taught me a couple important lessons about life. It was especially helpful watching this show while being a teenager. The top 5 lessons I learned were...

1. To never let a guy get the better of you

-Throughout the different seasons LC & her crew always had trouble with the boys they dated but she never let any men get in the way of her happiness.

2. It's okay for people to come in and out of your life

- In life, some people stay forever, some come, and some go. In LC's case, Heidi and LC were not meant to be, and that's okay. Things happen and people change. Life goes on.

3. It is way more important to have a few great friends than a lot of fake ones

-LC definitely learned this the hard way but eventually figured it out. In life, we must remember the phrase "quality over quantity". Sometimes less is more and we must really value the true friends we have.

4. To always be in love with your career first

-"Lauren didn't go to Paris" said by the one and only Lisa Love. By Lauren not choosing to go to Paris, viewers learned the lesson that one must always follow their career first, and not let a boy get in the way. In Lauren's case, Jason got in the way. Lauren should have gone to Paris.

5. "You got to believe there are people that want the best for you"

In life, we must always remember their are people that genuinely want the best for you, and will always want the best for you.

These lessons are something I have carried through my teen years and lessons I will always remember.

Friendship. It's defined as the state of being attached to another person by feelings of affection or personal regard, but what really is friendship? Is it that occasional hallway talk with that one person who always manages to cheer you up? Is it that relationship you have with someone where they can be gone for a long period of time, but when they come back, it's like they never left? Is it spending every waking hour with someone, and knowing every detail about their life? Is it the relationship that's filled with fighting, but filled with even more resolution? I've learned that it's all of these things, and every friendship is different. It's a beautifully dysfunctional mess that should always be cherished and never be taken for granted.
