Don’t be cliche and make resolutions that you won’t keep… “ I will go to the gym every day” or “I will eat healthier.” It’s more than likely that you won’t follow these for more than a month.
Be happy and feel good about yourself.
Smile more often. Find happiness in the little things in life. Be yourself. Be confident in who you are. Don’t hide your quirks, embrace them, and let others embrace them too.
Laugh more often.
Whoever said “laughter is the best medicine” was not wrong. Even if you’re having one of the worst days possible, laughter can make it better, if only for a few seconds.
Spend time with those that you love.
You don’t realize how quickly time passes until it’s already gone. Do you want to be wasting that time on people who don’t really matter in your life, or do you want to spend it with those who have never and will never push you to the back of their mind.
Take up a new hobby.
Find something new to help occupy your mind or to spend your time on. Making videos, taking pictures, knitting, reading, video games, any of these can be a hobby. New hobbies can make life more exciting.
Be more present.
Hop out of the world of technology for a few minutes and live in the moment. I know it’s hard to do in today’s world, but it is possible. Put down your phone, laptop, kindle, whatever it is you like to play on, and be present with the people around you. Not all of the memories you make need to be posted on Snapchat, Instagram, or Twitter.
Say good riddance to 2016 and be excited for a new year. In the words of a popstar, “Life’s what you make it, so let’s make it rock.”
