The holidays are a time for giving and receiving and who doesn't get excited for gifts, right? Well, as most people get older, that excitement for receiving gifts begins to decrease. The fact that you're probably just going to an influx of socks and school supplies begins to resonate.

Stationary sets

Seriously? Who's still writing letters in 2015? We have smartphones for that. Thank you.

Pajamas

Thank you, but no thank you. Nine times of out 10, my pjs don't even match when and I'm 100% okay with that.

Toiletries

Lotion, deodorant and body wash, oh my! Unless you're telling me I smell bad, then please just keep that gift to yourself.

Anything from your grandma's "catalogue"

No, grandma, we won't be "twinning" for the holidays. Sorry not sorry.

Souvenirs from vacations you weren't invited to.

If I was on your mind so much, why didn't you just take me with you? However, I guess the Las Vegas refrigerator magnet will suffice. I guess.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. 5. After the pep talk, you feel determined to get everything done.

6. But, now you're tired.

7. And really hungry.

8. Suddenly, it's 2 a.m. and you have only written three sentences and your paper is due in the morning.

9. You've made it to Friday... somehow.

10. Then Sunday hits and you find yourself back at the Lib.

11. So you cry some more.

12. But, you fight through the tears to get everything done because you're determined.

13. In the end, you feel on top of the world because you made it through the last week of class alive.

14. But, now it's finals week so good luck.
