Don't Wait Anymore, Just Go

"If you were waiting for someone to give you permission or a sign from the world to go, this is it."

Don't Wait Anymore, Just Go
Parker Jane Heard

To my friends, family, strangers, and everyone in between,

I write this on behalf of everyone who truly wants to make a change, for those who are not happy with the subtle nuances of everyday life. Those who ineffably crave the unknown and are drowning in familiarity. This letter is for you.

It has come to my attention that an alarming rate of youths are forgoing their chance to experience the great unknown in fear of missing the all too familiar. Let me repeat, young adults are willingly giving up their chance to roam the world, digest new cultures, and expand their understanding of the world around them for football games and "the typical college experience."

To this I respond, why? Why settle for the expected, the familiar? Why choose the path that leads to a life of ignorant bliss of the beautiful and mysterious world around you? Why stay when you have a chance to go?

Go forth and explore the world around you and learn something new! If you crave something extraordinary, something that cannot be satisfied by going to school in a different state. Take a chance and go. Leave and don't come back until your desire to experience the unknown is quenched with a new knowledge of the world.

If you were waiting for someone to give you permission or a sign from the world to go, this is it.

Go!

If it means an internship in a foreign city, studying abroad a world away, or even a trip for no particular reason other than finding something new, go! Experience everything you can while you are still young, free, and craving adventure. Go for the reason of bettering yourself, just GO!

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
