The Real Lehigh Alphabet

Presenting the ABC's that all Lehigh students can relate to.

92
The Real Lehigh Alphabet

There are many different alphabets across the world, some more prevalent than others. Alphabets are a method of expression that help us to communicate with one another. They are a way of relaying what is important to us. Whether you connect more with the alphabet that English uses, the Greek alphabet, the numerical alphabet or some other alphabet entirely, if you're a Lehigh student, you can definitely relate to this alphabet. Here are 26 items that are straight-up Lehigh - the pride and joy of everyone who calls themselves a Mountain Hawk.

A's: jk what're those?

Bus rides: Williams to Drown anyone?

C-3PO: And other sandwiches from the Goose's secret menu.

Deep-fried deliciousness: Hawk's Nest at night is the real MVP.

East 5th: Where else would you spend a Friday night?

FML and Lindy: The library with the fitting name and the library that's our claim to fame.

Gryphons: We're the gold, and they're our keepers.

The Hill: Home to the surviving frats and srats, and the bane of our existence.

Iacocca: Sorry to anyone who has class up there...

Jokes about Business Students: They deserve it.

"Ksig is chill, tho": Most Yakked phrase.

Lehigh Lookaway:Hookups, professors, ex-freshman-year friends - no one is safe.

Mocos: "It's 5 o'clock somewhere!"

Ninja Squirrels: They're terrifying.

Overwhelming hatred for Lafayette: F*ck Lafayette.

Packard: Home to the real students of Lehigh.

4 O'clock Quizzes: Because not calling them "midterm exams" is totally fooling us.

Ruit: So much more legit than "beer pong."

Stairs: So many stairs.

Parking Tickets: Usually for no reason whatsoever.

University announcements: Every morning at 1:30 a.m. - even over breaks.

Gorgeous Views: Lehigh is freaking beautiful.

"Work hard, play hard": The real motto of Lehigh University.

SaXby's: Gotta get that caffeine fix!

Yik Yak: How else would we know what's going on on campus?

Shows at Zoellner: DanceFest, comedians, choral performances, Shakespeare - Zoellner has got it all.

Honorable Mentions: The Bethlehem Star, Rathbone, Physics II, Chandler-Ullmann and Holi.

Shoutout to Angelika for helping me to finalize this list (and also for being generally amazing)!!!

It's officially December. There is less than a month of 2024, and I still feel like yesterday was summer. Now comes the merriest time of the year, the Christmas season.

Everyone has been waiting for this time of year since mid-October (which is way too early, in my opinion) or before. It's a time of love, family, memory-making, and gift-giving. A lot of times when I ask friends and family what they want, I get a lot of "I don't know" or "I don't care."

mu bucket list

I was sitting at my cubicle, now that I am an adult, looking at the rain pouring down on the windowsill, bumming on life, wishing for the rain to just stop for a full day.

There are moments where we count down the hours until work is over and how many more days till the weekend, and this many weeks until something exciting. Or something like that? Well, I was bumming because my next day off from work is not until Memorial Day weekend, which is not until the end of May. And since this is my first year out of college being a “real person,” I am totally missing the winter, spring and summer breaks. I am sure all of us have felt this way even if just for a hot minute…

If you go to or went to Kent State, then more than likely you have done or will do some of these things.

1. You’ve slipped and fallen on the ice at least once.
