We've all heard it before.
That quote people use during a heated debate about race or racism.
“I don’t see color.”
Are you blind? I have never been offended by someone asking me about my race because I believe race is something to be celebrated.
This quote has bothered me for years, and I have collected myself enough to speak on it. How can one not see color when clearly I am darker than the person sitting next to me?
As Christians, we try our best to give The Lord credit where it is due. He is creator of the Earth, life-giver to all living things, and master of the universe. But when it comes to skin color, The Lord doesn’t get any credit, right? Because you don’t see color.
How can we just skip over the fact that the Lord took time to make different skin tones, different eyes, different hair types, and different cultures.
We can not let the worldly beliefs into our faith. The world says there is only one race: the human race. If this fact is so true, how come you’re asked about your ethnicity on every survey?
Let’s face it, I am Black and you are whatever race you may be. Let’s take pride in the fact He created us unique and different. Let’s show respect to each other's cultures and skin shades. Let’s teach the world that we see color and we love it.
What an awesome Father we have to give us the opportunity to be different. And have you not seen mixed babies? They’re like God’s hidden gift in the world.
