My mind cannot give in to the quiet
It hears the clarion call of life
While drumming along to the beat of death
Something always tugging away
Something always stirring
And never ceases to tremble
Cowardice threatens the nascent stages of happiness
Just beginning to blossom
Just within my reach
But always hiding beyond the farthest star
It may be closer after all
But fear drives me
Casting my shadow on all I love
Rather than showing the world my light
The quiet beckons me
But like the deep sea
The unknown terrifies my aching soul
And it is not in life or death
That I may ever find peace
