The Pros Of Being In A Relationship VS. Being Single
JustLikeThat

You ever just wake up one day and think "Man, I love being single"? or "I would really like to be in a relationship"? It's okay to feel that way and I speak for myself when I say that there is nothing wrong with being single or in a relationship. Here are the pros of being in a relationship and being single.

Being in a relationship:

PRO: You will always have company. When you are in a relationship you will always have someone to call and to hang out with so you will not feel so lonely.

PRO: Being in a relationship helps improve your self-esteem. When your partner makes you feel good about yourself it is definitely a bonus to your ego which in turn improves your overall life.

PRO: Your lifespan will increase. There is substantial evidence proving that being in a long-term relationship will reduce your anxiety and blood pressure therefore, adding more years to your life.

PRO: You can be rolling in the cash. It is true that long-term and married couples are wealthier because the sharing of two incomes while divorced and single adults acquire less accumulation.

PRO: Being taken care of is a huge factor in relationships. The thing is, not everyone is equal in a relationship depending on personality differences so either the woman or the man will always be the one to make sure their partner is taken care of physically and emotionally.

PRO: The intimacy of another person beside you whether it is sex or just sitting with your special someone by the fire watching re-runs of "Supernatural" is a major pro.

PRO: Someone will be around to always help out. If you need help moving some furniture around or need a ride because you do not have transportation then that is a plus.

Being Single:

PRO: You can do whatever you want without having to consult with your partner first. If you want to go on a trip with your best buds you wont have to think about staying. Girls: If you want to watch The Bachelor without hearing him complain you can. Guys: You can watch ESPN whenever you want!

PRO: You have the power to weigh your options. If you want to date a few guys a week go ahead, no judgement. If you feel like flirting with the valet or the bartender go for it and have a little fun.

PRO: Being single is a great time to focus more on your goals. What you want in life, career goals and just doing what makes you happy before that full commit.

PRO: You can wear what you want! Have you ever been in a relationship and worried that you didn't have panties to match your bras. Or have you either thought to yourself that you do not feel like shaving or waxing today and you just want to skip it? Well, you can and no one will care.

PRO: You get the whole bed to yourself. Some days you just want to spread out and sleep alone. No one wants to worry about a partner sleeping over, stealing the covers, hogging the bed, and snoring.

There you have it. You decide what you are in the mood for. Do you feel like diving into a relationship or enjoying the single life?

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs.
