I never drank coffee until my freshman year of college. At this moment, I am running on a venti iced latte with almond milk from Starbucks (a staple of mine, in case anyone was wondering). While it was a much-needed boost for my day, the caffeine is making my hands shake and I cannot for the life of me sit still. There are many reasons to love the rush one gets from caffeine and there are also many reasons to hate that same rush.
Here are some of the best and the worst things coffee does for us caffeine-aholics.
Pro #1: Energy
It's much easier to take notes in class when you're energized and your eyes aren't drooping every 15 seconds. If you're lucky enough to still have the caffeine from coffee affect you, you probably take advantage of this every chance you get.
Con #1: Energy that lasts too long...
If I drink coffee after 2 PM, there's a good chance I won't fall asleep until some time after midnight. The curse of caffeine resonates with me for quite some time.
Pro #2: Working harder
The more energy you have, the harder you'll work. If you're not energized, you'll never accomplish anything.
Con #3: Cost
If you've said this before, you're probably a coffee addict. The habit can get pricey, especially if you're not lucky enough to have a coffee shop on your meal plan. If you don't have coffee on your meal plan, you probably burn through money or have to decide which days you do need coffee and which days you don't.
Pro #3: Options
Don't like plain coffee? Try something else! Not in the mood for your usual? There's still plenty of options. No matter what you're in the mood for, you can find plenty of flavor combinations to satisfy your taste buds.
Con #3: Health
Too much caffeine can be detrimental to your health. Overdosing on caffeine can lead to dehydration, dizziness, irritability, and headaches. Monitor your caffeine intake and don't go crazy with the coffee!
