The Procrastination Diaries: The Stages of Leaving an Assignment to the Last Moment

Here we go, the semester that you decide to stop procrastinating! No last minute paper writing or lab write ups done three minutes before class, right? We've all been there, done that, say we weren't going to do it again, yet somehow here we are again.

I present to you the 14 stages of leaving an assignment to the last minute and hauling ass to finish it in time.

1. Your professor hands you an assignment and you assure yourself that you will NOT do it at the last moment.

2. *Doesn't think about assignment all week.*

3. When the night before the due date rolls about, and you notice the due date is TOMORROW.

4. "Okay, time to sit down and do this assignment."

5. *Writes heading at top of paper.*

6. *Goes on every form of social media for 3 hours.*

7. Finally, it's midnight and you have yet to even write one sentence of the assignment.

8. Now it's time to reward yourself for all of your hard work. To the fridge I go!

9. In your height of desperation, you decide to come with a reward system.

"I will have one piece of candy for every page I write!"

Easy enough!

10. *Half a paragraph and bowl of candy later*

11. After making coffee, and realizing you have 8 hours (and hopefully some sleep) until your due date, you buckle down and get to work.

12. Somehow by the grace of God, you somehow finish the assignment while still getting 5 hours of sleep.

13. Finally, the moment of truth! You walk into class to hand in your assignment.

14. Back in your room, you climb into bed and tell yourself that you are NEVER doing that again.

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
