With all three debates concluded and election day already here, the presidential election is getting more serious and citizens are more anxious than ever.
It has been said to be one of the most controversial elections due to the two candidates who have made it to the final running. We have Donald Trump, television celebrity, and then we have Hilary Clinton, former first lady and Secretary of State. If Clinton wins, she will be the first woman president. If Trump wins, he will be the first television celebrity to make it as a president.
The problem for a lot of Americans is they don’t like the two choices. Trump has continuously made racist remarks and derogatory comments against women. Hilary has had an FBI case against her in the search for her deleted 650,000 emails she had on a private server used for official communications.
Clintons email case was recently opened again by the FBI due to possible evidence on a laptop that belongs to Anthony Weiner, American politician and former Congressmen. Just two days before election day, FBI director said that they are no longer looking into the case because no new evidence has been found, therefore their conclusion has not changed.
The polls have become more and more undecided leading up to election day. Recently, Clinton had the lead and shortly after Trump had the lead. The predictions on the electoral map are constantly changing so it’s hard to say what the overall outcome will be.
Western Illinois University hasn’t been wrong since 1975 when predicting who will win the presidential election. Earlier this year they predicted that Trump will win. We will have to see if they can keep up their streak.
Due to all the outrage of this election, some are either choosing not to vote for either candidate or are voting for a third party. However, if you want to vote, you can do so at your local polling office if you haven’t already. Just be sure to do it by Election Day (Nov. 8) before they close.
May the results of the election be in your favor.
