Are You A Present Day Good Samaritan?

In the Bible we read of the story of the Good Samaritan. This one person helped the poor soul that he met unlike so many others that passed him. Often times we forget of the Good Samaritan and how we should be more like them. Last year my school went through a lot of tragedies. We lost a senior in October when she got hit by a car then at the start of the summer one of our sophomores was shot and killed. The family and friends of that young man and girl will never be the same again. Then we look at what's been going on in the news.

Mass shootings at gay night clubs, police officers being shot down, leaving babies in cars for hours without air, etc. We all go through tough times some worse then others but together as a society we can get through them. No matter how bad you think your situation is there is always going to be someone out there going through something worse. It doesn't matter if we know the ones in need personally or not it is our job as Christians and human beings to help each other.

There have been people from all over the country doing things for police officers to show their appreciation, prayers being sent out from all over the world, even walks and protests. There are some sweet souls out there who have the idea of the present day good Samaritan. I would like to share a song lyric with you. "A common love for each other, a common gift to the savior". This is one of my favorite church songs! One thing binds us all together and that is the love of the Savior. He died on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins without him doing this we would all be without hope. We were all put here for a reason and that was to serve God. We are tied together and need to support each other. It is a bond holding us to the truth! JESUS IS THE TRUTH!

This is a song with such powerful words. If you haven't ever heard this song you really need to and don't just listen to how it sounds listen to the words. Think about what the words mean and how they relate to you, your life, and your bond with your fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. Now more then ever we need to come together as people of the World. Let's be more like the Good Samaritan and less like the ones who just walked away. I want to close with a song lyric from something that always got me through hard times. "Sometimes in our lives we all have pain. We all have sorrow. But if we are wise.We know that there's always tomorrow. Lean on me, when you're not strong, and I'll be your friend. I'll help you carry on. For it won't be long 'til I'm gonna need somebody to lean on. Please swallow your pride. If I have faith you need to borrow . For no one can fill those of your needs that you won't let show. You just call on me brother, when you need a hand. We all need somebody to lean on. I just might have a problem that you'll understand. We all need somebody to lean on."

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
