One Prayer. One Voice. One moment throughout your day. The power of prayer is such a powerful tool which every Christian should use throughout everyday life. Even if you are struggling within your own faith, prayer is a way to get on a personal level with finding yourself and creating a stronger relationship with God. I constantly find myself stressing about situations that are beyond my own control.
Stress and Doubt are monsters that were created to steal your joy. I constantly deal with these two demons that constantly do nothing but steal my own happiness. This past Sunday, I attended Stevens Creek Church and I learned that prayer can and should be the tool to combat our everyday problems. I was challenged by my pastor to commit to a twenty one day challenge of prayer. These prayers can consist of praying over financial issues, relationships, friendships or personal endeavors.
Recently, I lost who I was and it cost me too loose quite a few friendships along the way. While I learned that it is okay too loose friendships along the way, it is not acceptable to be bitter towards any friendship. Throughout our relationship with God, he is always forgiving us for our sins. Forgiveness is a quality that everybody should strive to have and implement in life. I found myself hesitant to forgive certain people within my own life but with the power of prayer I found this task easier to accomplish. I took it upon myself to forgive a one certain individual and our friendship has developed a deeper meaning. While we might be angry at each other’s actions, anger does not need to consume our entire friendship. So instead of just falling back into old habits within our friendship, I say a daily prayer that consist of:
"Dear God,
Thank you for all that you do for us. You only through things at us to make us better, stronger and wiser people. I understand that you have a plan for my friendship with my friend, but please help guide us in the correct way. Even though we have had our fair share of differences, I need you to lead us towards the correct path. I need you to lead him on the correct pathway as he goes through his own trials and tribulations. He might have not made the best decisions but he has a big heart and he is an amazing person. Please help guide us as we both begin at working towards bettering ourselves.
Amen."
While this prayer might not mean a lot to everyone, it is the foundation for my new friendship. People have ridiculed me for being friends with him, but my question for them is have you not been forgiven. Jesus died on the cross to forgive our sins. So do not waste an opportunity to not forgive because our next day is never guarantee and it never hurts to start the process of healing with forgiveness.
