Facebook declares people deceased

The impact of social media on our society is huge! We can know anything we want in an instant. This also has some room for error though. Last Friday, Facebook accidentally listed some users deceased while they were actually alive and well. This may have caused some panic for some people, but you can't blame them! The worst way to notify family and friends about the death of a loved one is on social media. Users being listed as deceased ran to twitter and other social media platforms to inform family and friends that they are okay.Thankfully, we all found out that all of those listed as deceased were actually fine. A Facebook spokesperson told WBRZ, "For a brief period today, a message meant for memorialized profiles was mistakenly posted to other accounts. This was a terrible error that we have now fixed. We are very sorry that this happened and we worked as quickly as possible to fix it." Wow, what a mistake. This shows us how social media itself can have some major glitches. Social media ultimately has the power over someones life, literally. While the situation might have been serious for some, others chose to joke about it.
