On January 21st, millions gathered in the streets of Washington DC and hundreds of other cities around the globe to campaign for fundamental women's rights and civil rights in light of Donald Trump's inauguration. Stronger together, women and men from all walks of life united against an administration threatening to reverse the positive progress this country has made in decades past. Actresses and guest speakers America Ferrera, Ashley Judd, and Scarlett Johansson used their public presence as a platform to inspire millions to speak their minds.
However, the most important Women's March attendees were not those with celebrity status or even those United States Congresswomen who vocalized their unwavering support. Instead, the most influential marchers were the children - the young girls and boys - who proved that this election was simply a hiccup, not a lasting trend, in the fight for gender equality. With the future in their hands, there is hope after all.
Here are the children who should inspire us all to march a little longer, speak a little louder, and fight a little harder for our fundamental human rights:
1. "Feminism is the radical notion that women are people."
3. "If you build a wall, my generation will knock it down!"
4. "Boys will be good humans."
5. "Women's rights = human rights"
6. "I count."
7. "I vote in 8 years."
