The Good Part Of Quarantine

The coronavirus has taken the world by storm since we were put on a worldwide shut-down in March. Life has completely stopped for months now. Basically nothing is open, we have been locked inside our houses for way too long, life has been hollow. There are some places coming out of it more than others, but that does not change the fact that life still has changed and been on hold for who knows how long? This all is awful and no one likes when their plans are completely ruined. However, what if this quarantine has also done some good for everyone as well?

When quarantine first happened and the world shut down, it was hard to find anything good about the current status of the world. Life didn't feel fair, we could not be around the ones we loved, the biggest days of people's lives had been cancelled, every plan we made had been ruined, nothing felt right. However, after awhile and I mean a long while, it was easier to see some good things that have come about since quarantine began.

The best thing that has come out of this quarantine is time with family. Often times, we do not stop and just sit with our family. The society we live in is always so rushed and busy, there hardly is ever room for quality time. Quarantine has forced us to finally take a breath and just be with our family. I have played cards, had a ton of movie nights, sit at the table and have a meal together, and share many laughs. Normally I am up at college and with my friends; I hardly have time to stop and call even my parents but being at home with no obligations has allowed me to spend way more time than ever with them. This time has been a gift to be with my family and be closer to them.

Quarantine has not been ideal in any way shape or form. Although, I am grateful for it because it has allowed me to have a ton of time with my family.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Blair Waldorf
Stop Hollywood

For those of you who have watched "Gossip Girl" before (and maybe more than just once), you know how important of a character Blair Waldorf is. Without Blair, the show doesn’t have any substance, scheme, or drama. Although the beginning of the show started off with Blair’s best friend Serena returning from boarding school, there just simply is no plot without Blair. With that being said, Blair’s presence in the show in much more complex than that. Her independent and go-getter ways have set an example for "Gossip Girl" fans since the show started and has not ended even years after the show ended. Blair never needed another person to define who she was and she certainly didn’t need a man to do that for her. When she envisioned a goal, she sought after it, and took it. This is why Blair’s demeanor encompasses strong women like her.

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
