The Plethora of Summer Emotions

It's a confusing, fun time

It's been a little over a month since school ended. I was so ready to be back home with friends and family. There was nothing that could put me in a bad mood, or so I thought. Being busy with a full time job and then not wanting to do much on the weekends takes a toll on a person. These are just some of the emotions I'm sure we are all going through this summer.

Excited.

The beginning of the summer is exciting. There are these adventures waiting for you. Your responsibilities have been cut in half and there isn't a worry in the world for you.

Bored.

After the first few weeks, you find yourself being bored out of your mind. You've already gone out on the lake, on a road trip, or working full time. It becomes a frustrating cycle of having to figure out something to do that you haven't already done.

Depressed/Lonely.

While everyone is out having the time of their lives, there is a chance that you are at home, wondering why you didn't get invited. The summer makes it easy to forget and sometimes people just don't realize they are being rude.

Content.

In the end, you just have to be happy with how your summer is going. Whether you're spending your time working or adventuring, you'll find that you can be content no matter what you're doing.

Ready for anything.

Lastly, you will be ready for any adventure or obstacle that comes your way during the summer. There might be some weekends that you're doing nothing but there might be a weekend where you make some of your best memories, just be ready for it.

Creating your schedule for the upcoming semester can be an exciting process. You have the control to decide if you want to have class two-days a week or five-days a week. You get to check things off of your requirement checklist. It's an opportunity for a fresh start with new classes (which you tell yourself you'll never skip.) This process, which always starts out so optimistic, can get frustrating really quickly. Here are 25 thoughts you have when registering for classes.

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:
