Walk away from the boy who makes you unhappy, even if it breaks his heart.

Girls in our society are too often settling for men, or more accurately boys, who are not right for them, or not right for them in the moment. It is a trending issue--it is the basis from which derived the term “fuckboys” and girls accepting being booty calls, or accepting their identity as the “3am girl.” Though these are extremes of such relationships, the relationships are real, the complains are real, the unhappiness is real. Well, the problems always start somewhere.

No more. I have known these boys. I have been this girl. We must put an end to putting up with anything that makes us unhappy. Granted, do whatever you want with your life, but if you are unhappy, you must put a stop to it. This is not a man-hating article, but simply one to put into perspective that there is life on the other side of bad relationships: labeled and labelles. You must swallow your pride and put your wants aside. The need, in this case, is to maintain love and respect for yourself. No boy, or even man, is worth sacrificing that. Alas, I have compiled the songs, of varying genres, that prove that walking away from these situations, these “relationships” will teach the lessons that sticking around never could.

Rarely do we hear songs entitled: she stayed with me through all my mistakes and I grew so much from that. Don't be the girl that fixed the guy. In fact, don't STRIVE to be a girl who changes a guy at all. Be the girl that comes along and falls in love, or in “like” for exactly who he is, and he the same for you. Here's your harmonious, melodic, proof-- if something isn't right, walk away from the situation all together. There are plenty of fish in the sea, and maybe you'll be the cause of the next hit heartbreak single.

  1. Dreaming With A Broken Heart- John Mayer
  2. Let Her Go- Passenger
  3. She's Out Of My Life - Michael Jackson
  4. It Will Rain- Bruno Mars
  5. When I Was Your Man- Bruno Mars
  6. All I Have (Baby Don’t Go)- JLo ft. LL Cool J
  7. Sorry- Justin Bieber
  8. Another You- Armin van Buuren fr. Mr. Probz
  9. What's Left Of Me- Nick Lachey
  10. Lonely- Akon
  11. Just To See You Smile- Tim McGraw
  12. She Wouldn't Be Gone- Blake Shelton
  13. Over- Blake Shelton
  14. Not That Simple- Mike Posner
  15. Sometime Around Midnight- The Airborne Toxic Event
  16. End Of The Road- Boys II Men
  17. Every Breath You Take- The Police
  18. A Drop In The Ocean- Ron Pope
  19. Thunder- Boys Like Girls
  20. Breakeven- The Script
  21. The Man Who Can't Be Moved- The Script
  22. Nothing Better- The Postal Service

Now not all men, nor all relationships, are bad: we know this. And some men acknowledge that it would be unbearable if they lost you WHILE THEY STILL HAVE YOU. So, I also gave us the standard. When a man starts singing to you like John Legend sings about Chrissy Teigen, hang on to him-- forever.

Like I'm Gonna Lose You- John Legend

But finally, know that even if your don't find your John Legend, or you do walk away from the situation, you're going to be just fine. While I researched for this article, I came across the song “Fix You” by Coldplay, assuming that it was about a girl. But really, this song could be about your damn self. Fix yourself first, love yourself first, take care of yourself first. Everything else will fall into place. But, whatever you do, choose happy.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
