This year for mothers day, instead of the traditional Mother's Day lunch, I went to see The Play That Goes Wrong on Broadway with my family. At first, I really did not know what to expect. I had seen commercials for it on television, but I had never really looked up what this play was about. Much to my delight, this play was quite enjoyable.
The Play That Goes Wrong is a light comedy. I found myself laughing and smiling so much that my face actually began to hurt at times. This play followed the story of a theatre club putting on a murder mystery play. During which, everything imaginable seems to go wrong.
I would absolutely recommend seeing this play if you are looking for a light and funny comedy. I would say that this play is definitely fun for all audiences middle school aged and above.

The play started off before the audience even realized it had begun. It looked as if members of the stage crew were still putting the set back together. Then, one of the actors who looked like a member of the stage crew brought up an audience member. That is when the audience began to get a sense that the play was beginning.
It was not fully clear to the entire audience that the play had begun until a man came out to present a bit of a backstory about the theatre club and the murder mystery they were putting on.
Throughout the play, many things went wrong (as expected from the title). Doors would not open, sets were falling apart, actors were getting knocked out, and characters even showed up at the wrong moment. They even went so far as to make one of the actors play two characters.
The first act seemed better than the second act. In the second act, things seemed to move too fast. It got to a point where, at times, things could be a bit hard to follow.
As I said before, I would highly recommend seeing The Play That Goes Wrong. It is a light comedy, and it is certainly family friendly.
