The Phantom Death

It is coming, for it is already here.

It has just begun, and yet your time has come. Surrounded by hallow shells and walking corpses, there is no rest. The scent of death, flesh and blood fills you. Yet, you are compelled to carry on. There is no crime committed here, only an execution.

There is no proof of it other than the proof that it can provide. There is no body, for the body is not dead. Far beyond in a wasteland where no others may follow you have fought an endless battle. The victim of this execution is yourself. The Phantom within grows to be an enemy, and yet it is one with ourselves. In trying to end it, we lose ourselves. We must fight, and yet our battle is the wrong fight, we are fighting those who must be our allies.

Our true enemies are what turn us against ourselves and mold us into fabricated creations that exist to serve the will of those who cannot win this battle. The children of today, tomorrow, and yesterday, they fight this war because those who exist today cannot stop the corruption. The corruption spreads through society and it is a disease.

Fools will try to eradicate it, they will say “these people are the problem because of this.” We are all the problem, the only solution is understanding. Understanding cannot be met by ignorance, because they are opposites. Too long have we sat idle, things have gotten too far out of hand. The children and future of mankind fill the streets with blood that many cannot see. They feel the pain that many refuse to believe exists because they have been unable to cope with it.

Some wait for salvation from some God, they wait and they say He will come again to save you. If that is how the world is understood, then you’re not worth being saved. Because this very line of thought is ignorance to the current state of the world and how ideas and understandings come into existence.

What are we but more than shadows roaming a land that is coveted in darkness? Where is the light that people speak of? They will claim that it rests in their God, and that to see it you must have faith. Yet there is no faith, only ignorance. Humans, we are luminous beings, and yet we choose to be blind. We would rather think we are right than choose to understand how we are wrong.

This line of thought is a poison, one that condemns our fates to despair and suffering. One that if we want to stop, the world must start working together now to stop. This has been a long time coming, yet it has always been here.

You must seek and you will find the answer. The only to look for is to look for nothing. Only then perhaps will you see all of it. Seek nothing and your mind will free itself of biases and it will allow itself to understand.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
