At the beginning of the New Year, everyone sets resolutions, things that they want to accomplish or do differently. Speaking from experience, I have never kept a New Year’s resolution for maybe more than a month. This seems the case for most people. We get our minds on something that we want to do and then it never seems to last very long.

This New Year, I thought a lot about what I want to accomplish or do differently this year, and most of it has to do with future career or life goals. However, I, like most people, am stumped by how big my resolutions, dreams, and goals are. I fear that there is no way I can accomplish all my dreams for my life. This fear is common among people of all ages. Anywhere from a student looking into what college they want to attend to a mom who thinks she missed out on her dreams long ago, we fear that we are not good enough to actually succeed in accomplishing our life goals.

As humans, we all have big dreams and desires for our lives. We get ideas or dreams that we cannot seem to shake. These big dreams often seem out of our reach. We doubt that we could ever be good enough to accomplish such things that seem entirely impossible or impractical.

But, these dreams and desires truly are not impossible or out of our reach. We all have a purpose in our life. There is something that we are each meant to do. Our dreams are not impossible. You have them for a reason. Each person can see their dreams come to fruition. Whether you are religious or not, know that you are called to live a purpose driven life.

Hebrews 13:21 says that each person is equipped for doing good in the world. You are called to a higher purpose.

Psalm 20:4 reads, “May He give you the desires of your heart and make all your plans succeed.”

Those dreams that you have or goals for your life are all for a reason. Trust in your dreams and know that nothing is impossible. Instead of making your New Year’s resolution about your physical appearance or trying to make your life like someone else's, resolve to follow your dreams and heart's desires this year. Follow your heart and your big ideas. Do everything you can to accomplish your dreams and goals. Make your dreams a reality because you are more than good enough. You have a purpose.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
