The Person Who Is Still Finding Their Way

You are not lost, you are on a journey.

Last year I had everything planned out. I had a plan, a direction, a path, but what I have learned is nothing is set in stone and everything is susceptible to change. The person I was a year ago, is not exactly who I still am today, and that is okay. It just means I'm still finding myself.

Maybe you have been a little lost lately. Seems like everything just goes wrong. You failed the test, you're fighting with your friend, you have two tests coming up, family issues and everything else that could possibly go wrong, is going wrong. You feel lost? Feel like you are on a roller coaster that has no end in sight? The thing is, you are not lost, you are just on a journey. A journey to finding the best possible version of yourself. The roller coaster will end, but for now I promise you, you are not alone.

Take a puzzle for example; you have all these pieces and you must put them together to see the full picture or the purpose. I like to compare that to where I am in my life. I am collecting all these pieces, trying to figure out who I am. You are either going to succeed and realize that you found another puzzle piece. Or you are going to fail, but at least you'll know that it was never meant to fit into your completed puzzle.

Finding yourself is hard. It's challenging, especially when you have so many influences trying to tell you who you are, what to do, and what you need to be. The sad truth may be that some people never get to complete that puzzle. But my hope for you is that you can find all the pieces and be happy with the picture you have created.

The journey is not always easy. Hell, they said good things do not come easy and I firmly believe that. Your puzzle may wear you out at times, draw you to the breaking point, and result in some good breakdowns (ice cream helps). But I think this all needs to happen. You need to be challenged, put through the low points and feel drained in order to find the highest peaks and best days that are yet to come.

Every chance you take is a gamble. I like to think of that in a good way. You are either going to learn from it, or be rewarded from it. So do not beat yourself up if you do not know what the hell you are doing, if you feel like you are wandering, or if you feel like you just "wing it" sometimes. Often times we find ourselves when we least expect it. We do things that we did not even know we were capable of doing.

My advice to you is that it is okay to not know who you are at this very moment in your life. Some people go there whole life wandering in search of themselves. As long as your true to yourself and stay optimistic, I would not sweat it. You'll find yourself when you are least expecting it. Always remember that tomorrow is a new day, a clean slate, and you have been given another day to become a better version of yourself.

5 Things To Do That Are Better Than Writing A Paper

Don't waste your time trying to write that paper when there are so many more interesting things you could be doing.

Writing a paper is never fun and is rarely rewarding. The writer's block, the page requirement, be specific, but don’t summarize, make sure you fixed any grammatical errors, did you even use spellcheck? and analyze, analyze, analyze.

Papers can be a major pain. They take up so much time and effort that by the end of the process you hate yourself and you hate the professor for making life so difficult. Questions of your existence start roaming in your mind. Am I even cut out for college if I can’t write a single paper? Am I even capable of taking care of myself if I lack the energy to open my laptop and start typing?

I can barely remember back when I was the only child. Most would say it’s because it is extremely difficult to remember things as a toddler but I would say it's because I was bored until my sister came along. My mother always says how important the "sister bond" is and with every year that passes I realize how right she is. Instead of writing a novel about all of the wonderful things there are about having a sister I decided to list a few of them instead.

It is the time of our lives that we are beginning to enter the adult world and most of us, if not all of us, have no idea what we are doing. It's like starting a video game, but skipping the tutorial. We're all just running around aimlessly hoping we accidentally do something right that moves us along the right path. Now that graduation has just happened, or is right around the corner for some of us, it's time to start thinking about how we are going to take care of ourselves once we are on our own.

If you’re anything like me, you love a good cup of coffee. My coffee always comes from Starbucks; I refuse to drink it from anywhere else. Over the years, it’s become one of my biggest addictions. College involves a whirlwind of emotions, whether it’s from the stress of an assignment (or twenty), or from fighting with your roommate.
