To The Person Who Gave Me New Beginnings

Whoever you may be, my family, best friend, boyfriend / girlfriend, I just want to thank you for everything that you’ve ever done for me. Specifically, saving me when I needed it most.

You did not know it at the time, but I was at my lowest point I have ever experienced, and because of you, I’m at my highest.

Before I met you, I was in a dark place. I was hurt, broken, and thrown away. I was on the verge of just giving up. I let every person control me, walk all over me, and tell me what I was doing wrong- which seemed to be everything. During this time, I never wanted anyone to help me. I pushed you away, and I’m so glad you didn’t listen to me- and credit to you, I’m here- happier and healthier than I ever have been. I’m thanking you for climbing all the walls I put up to keep you out.

I never believed in a happy ending, but when you came along, every day was a new journey I am so blessed to have been able to live through. Your kind words, constructive criticism, and friendly hugs were exactly what I needed at this time. I didn’t know it, and I surely didn’t appreciate it enough. You pushed me forward, taught me about Jesus, and influenced me to find the greater things in this wild, wild life.

Thank you. Thank you for all of it, for talking me out of doing stupid things, for protecting me, and for never leaving. You will never know how much that means to me, whether you believe me or not, you are the reason I’m still here. Thanks to you, I know about God. I understand His plan. I am striving towards a better future. I didn’t give up on sports. I am pushing myself everyday to become more and more of a leader- to save people like you did to me.

You may not even know who you are, but the impact you made on my overwhelming life was huge. I will forever be thankful for your efforts, and I am sure to keep the promises I made to you about reaching forward and never looking back.

Today, and every day forward, I live a life of hope and faith. I wish I would have been in this lifestyle for much, much longer- but everything happens for a reason and I would never have been able to experience this kind of happiness without your help of digging me out of the deepest hole.

Never stop supporting others, for their life will be changed eventually, too. Never stop being you. I love you more than the earth itself, and I am forever grateful to have met you and for our hearts to connect the way they did.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
