Women’s pictures are photoshopped to look perfect in the magazines. They are made to look lighter, fairer, thinner or curvier. Women are made to look as if they are better than they are in real life. Women are portrayed to be better and they set the standards for beauty in the society. Photoshop has become a very powerful tool that magazines use to make women look better. Everyone is perfected with the help of technology, but we can’t just toss it aside as a non-issue everyone already knows about. Magazines make their models look underweight or really thin. Models alter their appearances in a way to make them look their personal best. Models are seen as the standard of beauty in the society meanwhile they are photoshopped to look that way. These women’s images make other women in society feel less than good enough, not beautiful and insecure. Photoshop has become an important part in magazine. Photoshop has become something that everyone talks about.

We see pictures of women in the media and they look flawless, beautiful and perfect. Women who seem to have their lives together, and everything works for them the way it should. They look like they are goddesses. In reality those images are not real, they are pictures that have undergone a lot of retouching and photoshopping. Even those models have to be placed under strict diets and have to exercise very hard to maintain their bodies. These women spend a lot of time making up and trying to look good. They use chemicals like on their faces to make them look better. It affects our self-esteem because we feel that we do not look good enough. Women in Africa use bleaching creams to look whiter and fairer. Women who are dark and ebony believe that they are not beautiful enough. Women spend all their money trying to attain the society’s image of being beautiful.

A lot of celebrities have spoken up about their pictures being retouched and being photo shopped. Zendaya, Lorde, Kate Winslet, Ashley Benson, Troian Bellisario, Lady Gaga, Coco Rocha, Kim Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian and Nicki Minaj have been in the news for talking about their pictures being photoshopped. These celebrities speak about not liking their pictures being photoshopped. The want the world to see the real them not the picture that looks perfect Photo shop makes celebrities who already looking too good to be true. Kerry Washington has spoken out about her pictures being photoshopped in Adweek's Magazine. http://www.cnn.com/2016/04/06/entertainment/kerry-...

Editors use photoshop for shrinking women’s waists, slimming down thighs and enhancing body image. These pictures make girls in the society feel like they are not good enough. These models pictures affect our mental health. Society portrays women in a way that they look perfect while the rest of us look like we are not good enough. The idea of beauty is distorted because these magazines. The media present us with models that look perfect and they destroy our own self-image. They make us feel intimidated and not good enough. Self-esteem and Self Image are affected by the way we see our role models in media.

Women should feel good about themselves no matter how they look. Society should not define how women should look or feel about their bodies. There are several books to read on self image and self esteem. Every woman is beautiful and I celebrate every woman's beauty no matter her color, shade, weight, height, size or shape. I stand up for every woman to embrace her natural beauty and not look at society's definition of beauty. The same with how women dress, women should embrace their personal unique style that they can afford and not go out of their way to wear designer clothes or follow fashion trends that do not last for long. I personally do not look at fashion trends but I will give myself thumbs up for waking up looking like a queen anyway because I love myself the way I am.

Lastly I recommend this book to every woman to read. It is a book for younger women but anyone can learn from the book.

Its called "Be-YOUtiful" by Julie Marie Carrier.

It talks about young women being self confident and being natually beautiful the way they are.

Now that Halloween is over, it's time to focus on the Holiday Season. Don't get me wrong, I think Thanksgiving is great and can't wait for it, but nothing gives me greater joy than watching Freeform's 25 Days of Christmas, lighting peppermint scented candles, decking the halls, and baking gingerbread cookies. So while we approach the greatest time of the year, let's watch the 15 best Christmas movies of all time.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. Ever heard of “pain is temporary, but GPA is forever?” Pre-meds don’t just embody that motto; we live and breathe it. Here are 10 symptoms you’re down with the pre-med student syndrome.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
