Music is something that brings out an emotion that we can’t seem to actually express. Whether it’s about love, divorce, or even sex, the Indie and Alternative genres continuously have the perfect song choice for you to secretly express emotion without actually admitting it.

As we roll into summer, Indie and Alternative music will become even more popular as the ideal genres for “summer vibes”.

Here are 6 Indie and Alternative songs that are perfect to jam out to this summer.

1. Just Like Heaven by The Cure

"Just Like Heaven" by The Cure

This song will get you and your friends singing along for hours with its classic love story and peppy vibes. The beat is positive, catchy, and overall super heavenly!

2. Dear to Me by Electric Guest

" Dear To Me" by Electric Guest

Driving during the summer tends to always have one groovy song that’ll make your day a little brighter, and this song easily fits the description. With its positive reminder that at the end of the day, that special someone will always be “dear to you”, it will leave your heart warm and full every time.

3. Electric Feel by MGMT

" Electric Feel" by MGMT

MGMT is that type of band where you know lots of their songs but don’t actually know who the band is. Sometimes they fall under the cracks of society, but this band deserves so much more than that. This song stands out against most others for its trippy and slightly strange beat.

4. It All Feels Right, by Washed Out

"It All Feels Right," by Washed Out

Finding a song with a tune you haven’t heard before is never an easy task. But, with this song’s interesting background music and groovy feel, you’re guaranteed to have never heard anything like it. This song is perfect for late night drives with the windows down or for even just hanging out with friends.

5. The Breeze by Dr. Dog

" The Breeze" by Dr. Dog

Dr. Dog has a sound like no other and it truly shows with each song they release. This song talks all about how we all get caught up so easily in things and it’s normally the simple things that’ll bring us back down to normal. It’s the perfect song to relieve stress and “let go” to.

6. Holding Roses by Twin Peaks

" Holding Roses" by Twin Peaks

Bands have begun to discover the popular sound where their music sounds older and their voices sound raspier. Twin Peaks has completely mastered this sound and uses it in every song. Their most popular song, "Holding Roses", displays this sound the best and gets people singing their hearts out every time.

Summer is right around the corner, and music is what’ll set the tune to everything we do. Indie and alternative music have a vibe that no other genre can compare to and will continue to make a strong summer impression for years to come.

Writing a paper is never fun and is rarely rewarding. The writer's block, the page requirement, be specific, but don’t summarize, make sure you fixed any grammatical errors, did you even use spellcheck? and analyze, analyze, analyze.

Papers can be a major pain. They take up so much time and effort that by the end of the process you hate yourself and you hate the professor for making life so difficult. Questions of your existence start roaming in your mind. Am I even cut out for college if I can’t write a single paper? Am I even capable of taking care of myself if I lack the energy to open my laptop and start typing?

I can barely remember back when I was the only child. Most would say it’s because it is extremely difficult to remember things as a toddler but I would say it's because I was bored until my sister came along. My mother always says how important the "sister bond" is and with every year that passes I realize how right she is. Instead of writing a novel about all of the wonderful things there are about having a sister I decided to list a few of them instead.

It is the time of our lives that we are beginning to enter the adult world and most of us, if not all of us, have no idea what we are doing. It's like starting a video game, but skipping the tutorial. We're all just running around aimlessly hoping we accidentally do something right that moves us along the right path. Now that graduation has just happened, or is right around the corner for some of us, it's time to start thinking about how we are going to take care of ourselves once we are on our own.
